Two volumes, large 8vo (253x166 mm). xiii, 426; [4], 548 pp., including half titles and frontispiece portrait of Pierre Curie in first volume, 7 plates and 193 illustrations in text. Original publishers wrappers (some age toning and light soiling), pages untrimmed and unopened, very light browning and occasional marginal soiling. An excellent, clean and unsophisticated copy, rare in original wrappers. ----

Honeyman II: 789; DSB III, 503; Mayerhöfer I, 696; Sparrow 41. - FIRST EDITION. The collected lectures on radioactivity delivered by Madame Curie at the Sorbonne, with additional material for book publication. Madame Curie took over Pierre's professorship after he was killed in an accident in 1906; his own papers on radioactivity were published in 1908.
