NLM/Durling 3815; Wellcome I, 5381. First Lyon edition by Lertout, this collection with additional works first printed in 1568 by Egenolff, Frankfurt. The popular work on diet and hygiene was a product of the medical school at Salerno which flourished from the eleventh to the fourteenth century. The Regimen sanitatis Salernitanum was among the earlier medical works printed, the first edition appearing in Cologne about 1480. It was edited by Arnaldus de Villanova to whom the authorship has sometimes been wrongly attributed. "Its sayings became popular maxims of hygiene and some have survived to our own day" (cf. PMM 22). Content: Fernel, Jean. Emissi sanguinis observatio; Diocles of Carystus. Aurea ad Antigonum regem epistola, de morborum praesagiis, & eorumdem extemporaneis remediis. Latin (Cornarius), Anastasius (Epigrammatist). De ratione victus salutaris post incisam venam, & emissum sanguinem, ad Armatum epigramma; Hippocrates. De victus ratione; Camerarius, Joachim. Victus et cultus ratio; Melanchthon, Philipp. Commentarius de anima.
