[12], xxiv, 576 pp. Contemporary French calf, spine with 5 raised bands gilt in compartments (lettering piece gone, spine ends chipped, extremities worn, corners scuffed), marbled endpapers, red-colored edges. Text somewhat browned and spotted, title with browned margin from binders glue. ----

Wellcome V, p.236; NLM/Blake, p.445 (1st ed.). SECOND EDITION of Taury's work on acute and chronic diseases, first published in 1712. Daniel Tauvry (1669-1701) received his medical degree from the Angers Medical School at the age of fifteen. He also studied anatomy and published his first book at the age of eighteen. He became physician of the University of Paris in 1697 and, by support of Fontenelle, an associate member of the the Academy of Sciences in 1699. He died of tuberculosis at a young age of 31.
