All works contained printed by Christian Henckel, Halle & Magdeburg. 4to (201 x 153 mm). 2892 pages. Contemporary plain vellum bindings, spines lettered in gilt (some soiling to boards, bindings bowed, occasional minor worming), red-spinkled edges. Many tracts followed by printed commentary by Stahl (unnumbered pages). Each tract with consecutive numbering in Roman to title-pages and consequtive numbering of many pages in ink at top margin, handwritten content list to 4 vols. loosely inserted. Pages browned throughout (many stronger), occasional spotting and minor marginal staining. Fine set in untouched original bindings.

In 1694 Elector Frederick III of Brandenburg (Frederick I of Prussia) established a University at Halle, first for the liberal jurist Christian Thomasius, but later extended to a medical faculty which in time became a leading medical school. From 1694 until 1715 Stahl taught medicine and chemistry there. The present collection covers the entire period. The subjects of the papers include many aspects of medicine, pathology and physiology, fevers, pulmonary consumption, cancer, scurvy, gout, paediatrics, lithotomy, rheumatism, cachexia, circulation of the blood, hypochondria, opium, etc., etc. The papers by Stahl himself are additional pieces to the papers of his pupils. Many of the papers are listed in the Waller and British Library Catalogues.
