Text very little browned, occasional very minor spotting, bifolio A6/7 in vol. IV detached, endpapers browned in outer margins from binders glue, slightly offsetting to title- and final pages, otherwisp crisp and clean throughout. A handsome set in untouched bindings. ----

III (1753): 2nd edition. With almost every new edition new essays were added by Hume. The compilation of essays in a cheap duodecimo format, put together by Andrew Millar, included Hume's most important works to date, the Philosophical Essays, the Enquiry concerning Morals, the Essays Moral and Political and Political Discourses. The effect was to "draw attention for the first time to his philosophy in a format that which was both accessible and calculated to encourage sales" (ODNB). There is also another variant of the 4th edition of vol.
