Text vol. with frontispiece portrait of the author bound before half-title, bound in contemporary half cloth over marbled boards (extremities rubbed, text browned and foxed, some smaller marginal waterstains). Atlas volume in contemporary marbled boards (spine ends scuffed, minor edge chipping), plates browned, foxed and water stained at upper margin, plate XI cut down to plate border and laid down (at the time of binding). EXCEPTIONALLY RARE SECOND DANISH EDITION, first published 1804 in Copenhagen. Urban Bruun Jürgensen (1776-1830) was a Danish watchmaker. His company lived on and was called Jules Jürgensen after one of his two sons and is based in Switzerland. In 1804, Jürgensen published Regler for Tidens nøjagtige Afmaaling ved Uhre. It was the following year published in an improved edition in French and followed by a German translation. In 1815, Jürgensen was elected for the Academy of Sciences, a rather unusual honour for a craftsman. This copy is one of 300 printed and is numbered 35 - Visit our website to see more images!
